An email today from Ian reports that he has departed the UK and is flying to Tokyo.

Since joining the TAA Canada and Canadian Government Trade Mission to China in 2006, Artcraft Display Graphics Inc. has been heavily involved in working in China. On a recent trip to China Duane Fast met with Gong Wei Gang, the Secretary General of the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Industries Association. The SCEIA is an industry association like TAA Canada and has a division that is for companies involved in museum work. They were very excited about Duane’s proposal for some form of official co-operation between TAA and SCEIA. They even offered TAA Canada free office space should TAA decided to set up a branch in Shanghai (although that may not happen at this point due to fiscal restraints).
